Awakened Applewood is a cozy-melancholy solo journaling game about exploring personhood as something built to serve.

In this game, you were crafted ages ago to represent a dragon-saint just outside of the apple country market town of Appleford. One day, perhaps not a significant one to anyone else, you open your eyes and become aware. You awaken with a limited understanding of what it means to be alive, and as such, you carry several questions.

You might awaken with these questions:

“What does it mean to feel love?”

“Why must you endure suffering?”

“How do I recognize that something has changed?”

But there are many questions a suddenly awakened being might carry.

As you journey into Appleford, you find townsfolk to ask. Yet, as you quickly learn, people are complicated. The townsfolk do not possess final answers, often answering through conversation, action, story, argument, refusal, and even misunderstanding. These aren’t always clear, and often they come with more questions to resolve. Perhaps the next person will have an answer?

You are. You exist.

What will you learn about the nature of your life as an awakened sacred object?

This is an alpha playtest version of the game. I’m looking for players willing to complete a session and share honest feedback about the game’s clarity, encounters, question-carrying mechanics, and overall themes.

After playing, please complete this feedback form, even if you don't finish playing. It should take only about 5 minutes. Any and all feedback is helpful. Thank you.
