About This Game

The rise and fall of empires is unavoidable. The larger the empire, the larger the impact it has or void it leaves. The ebb and flow of this effect gives us civilisation and savagery not as two ends of a scale, but as peaks and troughs on the same charted line. Civilisations fall to savagery and, inevitably, savagery becomes civilised long enough for the cycle to begin again. An apocalypse isn’t the end of the world. It’s just the beginning of a barbaric period before we can reclaim our civilisation. > **Revenant** > > *noun* > > 1\. someone who has returned, especially someone who returns to life after being dead. Revenant is a game about survival in a savage post\-apocalyptic world set approximately 1 year after the 'Revenant' pathogen caused the dead to reanimate and consume the living. It uses a system based on Starforged, the sci\-fi sequel to the 2019 ENNIE award winning game Ironsworn. Revenant takes a 'fiction first' approach to play, meaning you play by envisioning your characters actions and determining the effect they have on your story. You can play Revenant solo, co\-operatively, or guided by a game master. In Revenant. you can build a persistent world that grows with you the more you play. Character creation is quick and easy, allowing you to jump straight into the action. You can play as a lone heroic character facing the challenges of the world on their own or a group of survivors, all working together to overcome the odds. The content in Revenant is written using sans serif fonts with additional letter and line spacing. This is designed to mitigate the difficulties people with Dyslexia can have when reading. This has the advantage of making reading Revenant easier on the eye for everyone. Revenant has more than 25 sample NPC's to encounter and instructions on how to design and create your own opposing forces. Although the default setting for Revenant is that of a zombie apocalypse, you can create any apocalypse you desire. Throughout the book, you will find optional rules to set the game more to your liking and make the setting your own including rules for radiation and fallout. Revenant also has over 100 random tables (oracles) to inspire your imagination including 600 culturally diverse names and more than 20 location oracles each with their own features, hazards, and opportunities.
